Event: Defense day Defense day is a public holiday that is celebrated as national day to commemorate in the memory of Pakistan's successful defense against India that marked the ceasefire in the 1965 war on 6 September. To mark the celebrations, mobile phone services with-in 10 KM radius of GHQ to remain offline for now, that will include some parts of Islamabad as well. An official of a mobile phone company confirmed ProPakistani that services in Rawalpindi and parts of Islamabad will remain offline from 4PM till 11PM. All wireless services (WiMAX, EvDO, 2G, 3G, 4G) also remained offline. Law & Order Mobile phone service in selected parts of Islamabad/Rawalpindi is being shut down in intervals on directions from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. PTA has said that such service closure instructions are forwarded to operators as received from Interior Ministry based on security situation in the capital. Mobile phone service was shut down in troubled areas and vicinity around 5AM in the morning of 28 March, 2016 but was later reinstated to be blocked again after a while. PTA, operators aren’t sharing the list of areas where service is shut down due to security reasons.
